Bonding
Edge can provide a range of bonding solution for microfluidic devices:
- Thermal bonding of thin films: Ideal for optical applications. We can manufacture films out of many thermoplastics or use externally produced films.
- Solvent-assisted thermal bonding: Using techniques developed at Edge, we can use solvent treatment of plastic to perform thermal bonding at lower temperatures. This is ideal for delicate microchannels and microvalves where minimal deformation is required. The solvent is eradicated from the finished parts, leaving a clean & pure plastic.
- Ultrasonic welding: We can produce embossed parts with incorporated energy directors suitable for ultrasonic welding and help you find a welding company to perform the bonding.
